The Centre for Lifelong Learning of the University of Macedonia, organizes a Distance Training Programme entitled "Personal assistant for people with disabilities" lasting 500 hours, which will be carried out remotely by the method of synchronous and asynchronous e-learning.

9 months, 500 hours related:

α) 100 hours distance learning with the method of modern distance education and

β) 400 hours asynchronous distance learning

The program addressed to teachers, psychologists, social workers, adult educators, but also more generally (without restrictions) to specialists in various scientific fields (secondary or tertiary education graduates) who wish to work as personal assistants for people with disabilities, according to the provisions of law 4837/2021 (Government Gazette 178 / A / 1-10-2021) that was recently voted and published.

The programme aims to provide knowledge and skills, both theoretical and practical, which are necessary to meet the specific requirements of supporting people with disabilities and in particular the position of "Personal Assistant for People with Disabilities"..

Pursuant to Article 34, of the recently publishedLaw 4837/2021 (Government Gazette 178 / A / 1-10-2021), every person with a disability is entitled to a "Personal Assistant", regardless of the category of disability and place of residence.

"Personal Assistant" is the natural person who supports people with disabilities. The service of the Personal Assistant is provided on the basis of the individual needs and living conditions of the persons with disabilities and according to their individual choices and interests, in order to facilitate, in particular, their daily activities, to enhance independent living and their inclusion in society, helping to prevent their marginalization and institutionalization. Recipients of the service are people with disabilities, regardless of the category of disability and place of residence. In addition, according to Article 36 of the same law, eligible beneficiaries, during the pilot implementation of the program, are people aged 16 to 65 with a certified disability (motor, mental, developmental or sensory).

The "Personal Assistant for People with Disabilities" program will soon be piloted throughout the country and will initially be part of the program. 2,000 beneficiaries (people with disabilities), while financial viability has been ensured for the future its universal nationwide application.
